Market report · October 2026
What buyers are ordering into the holidays
From now through December the orders change twice over: first the dark mole chiles and the red tamale sauce, then the warm baking spices — cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice — that carry holiday breads, punch and every holiday bake through to New Year. Here is what is moving through our Los Angeles warehouse, and what is worth locking in before the run.
Our new website is live. Browse our full catalogue — chiles, spices, herbs, grains and nuts — by category or by cuisine, build a quote list as you go, and send it in one request. We reply with the day’s pricing.

Mole season
Ancho, mulato and pasilla negro — the three mild, dark chiles most moles are built on.
|
Tamale sauce
Guajillo for color and tang, with New Mexico or California to keep a large batch mild.
|
Smoke
Morita and chipotle, both smoked jalapeños, for adobo, salsa and braises.
|
Baking and holiday spices
Cinnamon in 3″ and 5″ sticks, cassia whole or ground; nutmeg, cloves, allspice, ground ginger, star anise, anise seed and cardamom pods. Whole or ground, same 50 lb minimum — pumpkin pie spice is blended and ready if you would rather not mix it yourself.
|
For holiday breads and punch
Piloncillo, raisins, pecans, walnuts, almonds, sesame and pumpkin seeds — the rest of the holiday list, from the same dock, on the same quote.

Why it pays to book early
The seasonal flavor is worth real money. US shoppers spent $1.1 billion on pumpkin-spice flavored products in 2023 (NielsenIQ). That profile is cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger — the same four you buy by the sack.
Freight is running high. Shanghai–New York container rates passed $10,000 per 40-ft box in September, with Panama Canal surcharges and typhoon congestion on top (Drewry World Container Index, 24 September 2026). Ask us where a specific item is trading today — we quote at the day’s market cost.
